Using a remote control is a very convenient and easy way to configure and control Z-Wave networks. Remotes are either exclusively designed for Z-Wave or they act as universal remote controls so that other devices such as audio or video players and receivers can be controlled via infrared. A further distinction of remote controls is the number of controllable devices or device groups or scenes the remote control can assign and manage.
Z-Wave remote controls often serve also as a portable Z-Wave controller to include new Z-Wave devices into the network. Z-Wave-specific commands such as setting or deleting associations or manual configuration of Z-Wave devices are possible as well.
